The Los Angeles Chargers, in a rebuilding year, were able to finish as a playoff team, which really surprised many people. The Chargers had one of the best defenses in the league and surprised a lot of people on offense despite not having the best weapons for quarterback Justin Herbert.

Not many had them making the playoffs this year or even being a threat to some of the best teams in the league. But, here we are. If there is one thing we know now, it's that a Jim Harbaugh-coached team will always compete and will always be competitive. This time last year, Chargers fans and media members weren't completely sold on whether his college coaching tactics would work on the grown man of the NFL.

Well, they work, and this team improved a lot from the days of Brandon Staley mismanaging games. And luckily for them, while the season ended in a way that no one wanted to for them, they have good news to help them build off this big 2024 year, as they head into 2025.

Chargers get great news regarding Khalil Mack

Since joining the Los Angeles Chargers from the Chicago Bears before the start of the 2022 season, Khalil Mack has been a pivotal force in their defense. Last season Kahlil Mack had a great season for the Chargers, when he equaled the Chargers' single-season sack record with 17.0, alongside 74 tackles and five forced fumbles, which earned him a Pro Bowl selection.

He continued his strong play into this year, still recognized as a great defender with 6.0 sacks despite a slight decline in numbers, which was because of his play but also because of the depth the Chargers have behind him. His consistency and leadership qualities have been praised, as he has worked with some of their young players like Tuli Tuipulotu.

He's been a huge part of the Chargers, and the great news is that after considering retiring after their loss to the Houston Texans, he's decided to play at least one more year—2025.

Now, Mack is set to become a free agent, so he can choose to play where he would like. However, it feels like he has a chance of returning to the Chargers just as much as he does anywhere else. The good news for the Chargers comes there, where before, had he not come back, there is no chance they retain him.
