It doesn't get any better than this. Division rivals battling it out for a trip to Super Bowl LIX.

Jayden Daniels on what could be the best rookie quarterback season ever against Saquon Barkley's epic season which earned him MVP votes. Two coaching staffs that went through significant overhauls, proving the NFL world wrong. Who ya got?

We asked our A to Z Sports writing staff and we've got their predictions for the final NFC showdown of the 2024 NFL season.

Mauricio Rodriguez's prediction

Eagles 26, Commanders 24

I want to take the Commanders with every fiber of my being. But I'm a sucker for trenches football and I believe the Eagles have the upper hand on both offensive and defensive line. Though Jayden Daniels has been magical this postseason, Jalen Carter and Milton Williams can wreck this game by collapsing the pocket against a questionable Commanders' interior line which will include a backup right guard following Sam Cosmi's torn ACL

With no way of predicting how healthy Jalen Hurts will be, I'll take the Eagles to win a close one.

Jon Helmkamp's prediction

Eagles 31, Commanders 28

These two teams just played each other on December 22 with the Commanders squeezing out a three point victory, but that was a game that didn't include Jalen Hurts. The first time they met, it was 26-18 Eagles. There's one reason and one reason alone why I'm giving the nod to the Eagles in this game, and his name is Saquon Barkley. In two games against the Commanders this year, he has a combined 55 rushing attempts for 296 yards and four touchdowns. He's coming into this game on the back of a 205 rushing yard and two touchdown performance. He's as hot as it gets, and I believe he puts this team on his back and carries (see what I did there?) them to victory. If this is the end of the road for Washington, a standing ovation is due for Jayden Daniels and head coach Dan Quinn for the monumental job they've done turning around this franchise this season.

Rob Gregson's prediction

Eagles 27, Commanders 23

The Commanders and Eagles may have split the regular season series but the third matchup is the most intriguing yet. Jayden Daniels might alrighty be better than Jalen Hurts, and that’s if he was fully healthy. Washington just beat one of the best teams in football and they are on a heater. But the Eagles have the best roster start to finish in the league and two of the best coordinators. Even if Hurts is limited, I expect they find ways to attack the perimeter of Washington’s defense with stretch runs and targets for their receiving corps.

Philly in a tight one.

Wendell Ferreira's prediction

Eagles 24, Commanders 17

The Commanders are obvious overachievers this season and had a somewhat perfect game against the Lions in the divisional round. However, the challenge is much bigger now, especially for the offense. Even though the Lions' defense played at a high level, the injuries were piling up at the end. The Eagles defense under Vic Fangio has played amazing football, especially against the pass, and it will be Jayden Daniels' biggest challenge in the NFL. The Eagles' passing offense is questionable for sure, but the talent is there to do enough in this game.

Nick Roesch's prediction

Commanders 24, Eagles 20

The Commanders are the NFL’s Cinderella team of 2024, but when you examine the stats, we shouldn’t be all that surprised that they’ve made it all the way to the NFC Championship game. Led by likely Rookie of the Year quarterback Jayden Daniels, Washington finished seventh in the NFL in total offense during the regular season, thanks largely to its third ranked rushing attack.

Coach Dan Quinn has quickly turned around the Commanders’ defense as it finished third against the pass and 11th in sacks with 43. The objective for the Eagles is clear, pound running back Saquon Barkley all day. Washington’s biggest weakness is its run defense, which allowed the third-most yards per game this season. Despite trailing for most of the night, the Detroit Lions were able to rack up 201 yards on the ground against the Commanders last week.

Philadelphia’s passing attack hasn’t been the same since quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion last month. Because of that, I think that the Commanders can put most of their focus on trying to contain Barkley, especially since their secondary is so good. The Eagles have been great on defense for most of the year, but did allow 402 yards to the Los Angeles Rams’ offense in the snow last week.

I think Commanders’ offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury will scheme to get the ball out of Daniels’ hands quickly to combat Philly’s pass rush, and Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell is banged up entering this game. At the end of the day, I like Washington’s offense to make a few more big plays and outscore the one-dimensional Eagles.

Ian Valentino's prediction

Eagles 30, Commanders 24

The advantage that Philadelphia has in the trenches remains their biggest strength. It’s hard to overcome so much power and athleticism, but the Commanders have continually made the most of their own strengths. These are two extremely well-coached teams, so it’ll be a tight margin.

Washington will get theirs because Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin are unstoppable. The Eagles, though, can force enough negative plays from Daniels to get the job done at home. Washington has a puncher’s chance, but it’s hard to go against the more talented and experienced team.

Adam Holt's prediction

Eagles 27, Commanders 21

Jayden Daniels is having arguably the best rookie quarterback season ever. Like, ever. His ascension under OC Kliff Kingsbury has been a joy to watch, but he’ll face another tough challenge this weekend. The Eagles have an elite secondary with the talent in the trenches to force mistakes by QBs.

Even with limited downfield passing from Jalen Hurts, Philly continues to run the ball extremely well in the postseason. That scares me for the Commanders because the Eagles could control the time of possession better than Detroit did in the Divisional Round.

Kelsey Kramer's prediction

Eagles 31, Commanders 24

The Eagles and Commanders are set to meet for the third time this season. This time, however, a Super Bowl berth is on the line. Philly looks to have an automatic edge here with a home-field advantage but they're also banged up, including quarterback Jalen Hurts and cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. That could affect Hurts' ground game while Washington could place a target on Mitchell knowing he's not 100%. Nonetheless, the Eagles' roster runs deep with endless defensive threats who can shut down Jayden Daniels and I think we know what Saquon Barkley is capable of when it comes down to saving the game. The Eagles are the perfect Super Bowl team.

Nicholas McGee's prediction

Eagles 26, Commanders 20

Fairytales must end somewhere and, as much as my heart wants to go with the Commanders, my head says the Eagles will win with the formula that has gotten them to this point, Saquon Barkley and an excellent defense. The trenches are magnified in the playoffs, and Philadelphia’s edge on both sides is too great for me to believe Washington will pull off another upset.

Tyler Forness' prediction

Commanders 31, Eagles 27

Every once in awhile, there is a team that feels destined to make history. A rookie quarterback has never started in the Super Bowl, but it's bound to happen sometime. Jayden Daniels feels like that guy. He's just different, and it's all in his approach.

The work that Daniels has done this year has been incredible and his poise in the pocket can arguably be credited to the VR work he's done since his time at LSU. I have watched football for 30 years and have never seen a rookie that poised and comfortable with the speed of the game.

On the other side, something is wrong with Jalen Hurts. He is not playing good football and the entire offense feels like it's Saquon Barkley. If the Commanders can control him enough like they did in the second game in Washington, the Commanders can get the win and become arguably the most unlikely Super Bowl participant in the near 60-year history of the big game.
