Mock trade with Tennessee Titans landing superstar Myles Garrett and number one overall 2025 NFL draft pick going to the Browns

NASHVILLE – Cleveland Browns star edge rusher Myles Garrett informed the team on Monday morning that he has requested a trade.
Garrett has been in Cleveland for the first eight seasons of his NFL career after being selected first overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. He has been selected to six Pro Bowls, named a first-team All-Pro four times, and was the 2023 AP Defensive Player of the Year.
His 102.5 career sacks put him on a clear trajectory to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday. But with only one playoff win in his career and a contract expiring after 2026, it only makes sense for the 29-year-old pass rusher to pursue a trade even if Cleveland currently has no intention of moving him.
Naturally, the Tennessee Titans come to mind. Tennessee has a big need for edge rushers and currently holds the 1st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. There could be an opportunity here…but what would that trade look like?
Proposed Trade
Using the Fitzgerald-Spielberger point system that was developed in The Drafting Stage, I generated a mock trade that would send Myles Garrett to Nashville and give the Browns the 1st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The full trade details are as follows:
Titans Receive: EDGE Myles Garrett, 2025 1st (2nd overall), 2025 6th (202nd overall), 2026 4th Round Pick (CLE)
Browns Receive: 2025 1st (1st overall), 2025 2nd (35th overall), 2025 4th (102nd overall), 2026 1st Round Pick (TEN)

In this deal, the Browns move up to No. 1 and get their choice of quarterback in the draft while simultaneously adding a future first-round pick from the Titans in the 2026 NFL Draft. It would also give Cleveland three selections in the first 35 picks of the 2025 draft.
For the Titans, it's an opportunity to add not just one, but two players at a premium position in 2025. Tennessee would get needed edge help in Garrett and could even double down by selecting Abdul Carter with the 2nd overall pick.
Going by the Fitzgerald-Spielberger point system, this trade values Garrett at approximately 2,600 points – that's the value of the 2nd overall pick in any given draft class or the cumulative value of the 16th and 48th overall picks. That tracks with the value of "a 1 and a 2," which was texted to Dianna Russini by an anonymous NFL GM.
We could also use the 2018 blockbuster between the Raiders and Bears as a blueprint for what this could look like.
Just like Garrett, Khalil Mack was only one year removed from winning DPOTY when he was traded to Chicago. He was also two years younger than Garrett currently is at the time of the deal.
The Bears gave up two 1st round picks, a 3rd round pick, and a 6th round pick for Mack, a 2nd rounder, and a 5th rounder. That values Mack right around where I have Garrett – a 1st and a 2nd.
Why It Won't Happen
I just laid out what it would take for the Titans to land Myles Garrett in a trade that includes the 1st overall pick. And that steep price is exactly why it won't happen.
New Titans GM Mike Borgonzi has been very clear about wanting his team to take the "draft and develop" approach to roster building. Tennessee values draft picks now more than ever and would likely only move out of the No. 1 spot if it came with a haul of picks to reset the franchise.
I do not get the sense that the Titans are in a rush to get back into contention. Obviously, the goal is to win as quickly as possible, but the organization's approach is going to be more slow and methodical than the spending spree was saw from Ran Carthon last offseason. Borgonzi's focus is sustained success 0 something has has been witness to for years in Kansas City.
It's just not realistic to expect the Titans to give away next year's first round pick. But without it, the Browns are hanging up the phone and blocking your number.
It's also worth mentioning that Garrett probably has very little interest in being a Titan. Even if the Browns were to trade him (which they clearly don't intend to), Garrett wants to go to a contender to stop wasting his prime years in a perennial rebuild. Getting traded to the reigning worst tram in the NFL probably wouldn't make him very happy either.
What Myles Garrett's salary and contract means for trade rumors around Cleveland Browns star
The Cleveland Browns were hit with a heavy bit of news on Monday morning when star pass-rusher Myles Garrett publicly requested a trade from the franchise. It's the worst-case scenario for a team hoping to fast-track a rebuild this offseason around Garrett. As soon as news broke, social media speculation ran rampant around Garrett's future. […]
