When you are a good team you are going to see coaching turnover and Ohio State is seeing that after the National Championship win over Notre Dame.

Ryan Day has lost both coordinators Jim Knowles and Chip Kelly, offensive line coach Justin Frye, and multiple members of the support staff including assistant defensive line coach LaAllan Clark.

Though Ohio State now has multiple jobs to replace, Day sees some positives in all of this for the Buckeyes.

“The good news is we're at Ohio State. We have some really good opportunities to hire some great people and fit them with some people who are really good young coaches, really good coaches that are rising stars here in the profession, and some guys with great experience,” Day explained to Joel Klatt.

But this was going to be part of the deal. We knew that. I knew that right after the game. And so you have plans in place. But we're going to make sure we take our time and find the right guys because it's Ohio State, so you have the opportunity to get the best.”

Kelly was never going to be at Ohio State long and getting back to the NFL again made a ton of sense for him once that opportunity came about. The Buckeyes could look to promote someone like Brian Hartline from within, or they may address OC with an outside hire.

Knowles leaving was a surprise and his landing spot at Penn State was even more wild. Ohio State has options within to promote, or someone like Pittsburgh’s Randy Bates could make sense.

The bottom line is that Ohio State will be fine coming away from these departures. These roles will soon be filled, as this is not the first time that Day has had to do this.

Ohio State is at the top of college football right now, they will have no trouble finding replacement assistants, nor should they.
