Texas had a super season on the football field, and coach Steve Sarkisian cleaned up in recruiting. The Longhorns can now say they’ve locked up the top spot for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Texas has locked in the No. 1 overall ranking for the 2025 recruiting cycle, according to On3’s industry composite rankings hailed by the company as “the most advanced and accurate team ranking in the industry.”

The Longhorns knew they had grabbed the No. 1 spot during the early signing period in December. However, it’s more concrete now that 247Sports and ESPN have issued its final rankings for the 2025 cycle.

The Horns have five five-star recruits, 13 four-stars, seven three stars — 25 in all.

“With multiple five-star recruits signed and enrolled in Austin, Texas has locked up the No. 1 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings,” On3 analyst Collin Ginnan wrote.

“The future defense for the Burnt Orange looks to be stout — with elite talent like safety Jonah Williams, defensive lineman Justus Terry, edge Lance Jackson and cornerback Kade Phillips. Linebacker Elijah Barnes, CB Graceson Littleton, edge Smith Orogbo and DL Myron Charles are also all standouts on that side of the ball.

“Wide receivers Kaliq Lockett, Jaime Ffrench, Michael Terry III and Daylan McCutcheon are lethal threats out wide for Alabama quarterback K.J. Lacey. Running back James Simon is one of the top players out of the state of Louisiana, and Nick Brooks provides 6-foot-7, 360-pound muscle at offensive tackle.”

According to On3’s data, 22 recruits have already enrolled, meaning they will all participate in spring practice. That’s a huge booster for early playing time during the 2025 season.

Georgia is right on Texas’ tail, finishing No. 2 overall in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The Bulldogs are expected to sign four five-star player and 18 four-stars. Alabama, Oregon and Ohio State round out the top five.
