The Miami Dolphins are looking to hang on to their slim playoff hopes as they host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon.
The matchup is a pair of 6-8 teams whose seasons have fallen well short of expectations. Like the Dolphins, the Niners are multiple games back of a playoff spot and pretty much out of it if they don't get a win.
Per 506Sports.com, the game will have a wide audience, with CBS Sports' A-team of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call.

Miami fans across much of the southeast will be pleased, as the game will stretch from the Ark-La-Tex area straight across the Deep South and up through North Carolina, with parts of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina excluded for Jacksonville-Las Vegas. The West Coast from San Diego up to Seattle will have the game as well, with most of Arizona included.
As such, there will be a lot of eyeballs on the game on Sunday. And it will provide the Dolphins with a chance to challenge a stigma that they've consistently struggled to disprove: that they can't beat physical teams. There's little doubt that the Niners are just that, even with Christian McCaffrey on injured reserve. However, they've also been a team that's struggled to put up points, scoring 10 or fewer in 3 of their last 4 games.
We'll find out if the Dolphins can knock out the defending NFC champions while getting back on track themselves when toe meets leather at 4:05 pm ET on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
