On Tuesday, Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby had surgery on his foot. With the Raiders now being 2-12, officially eliminated from the postseason, and only three games left against the Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, and the Los Angeles Chargers, it would be best to just shut it down for the best player on the team.

Crosby was placed on IR on Wednesday, and the Raiders officially brought in his replacement or the guy who's going to replace Janarius Robinson, who is suspended for the last three games of the season — whichever you want to say he is replacing.

On Wednesday, they brought in Andre Carter II from the Minnesota Vikings.

Andre Carter II honed his pass-rushing skills while playing college football at Army. After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings. During his rookie year, he featured in 12 games, mainly on special teams, where he made two tackles.

He didn't secure a spot on the Vikings' 53-man roster for his second season but was brought back to their practice squad. Then on Wednesday, he was signed to the Las Vegas Raiders' active roster to bolster their pass rush. Standing at an imposing 6-foot-6 and 256 pounds, Carter II brings significant size to the edge position.

With Crosby sidelined, he's poised to seize a chance to prove his worth, possibly playing a dual role on defense and special teams. His addition provides the Raiders with much-needed depth and a new pass-rushing dynamic as they conclude the season without one of their defensive anchors.

Being that their playoff hopes are dead, and have been for a while now, this is a good time for the Raiders to try new things, give players chances they haven't had before, and see what they can find — maybe a diamond in the rough.
