The Ohio State Buckeyes are hoping that there isn't an orange tint to the crowd in Columbus on December 21 when the Tennessee Vols visit the horseshoe for a first round College Football Playoff matchup.
Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork pleaded with Buckeyes fans on Thursday to not sell their tickets to Tennessee fans.
"What we need Buckeyes to do is wear scarlet [and] don't sell your tickets," said Bjork. "Because Tennessee fans, they're rabid fans, they're going to try to invade the shoe. So let's make sure we don't have as much orange in there as people think. I think it's just going to be an awesome atmosphere."
It may be too late for Bjork's request to be honored, as Vols fans have already been hard at work scooping up tickets for the playoff game against the Buckeyes.
In fact, University of Tennessee President Randy Boyd tweeted Thursday that he ran into Ohio State President Ted Carter at the New Era Forum, and Carter believes Ohio Stadium will be "30 percent orange" on December 21.
Ohio State is hoping to have a strong home field advantage against the Vols.
But it looks like Tennessee fans, despite the threat of cold weather, are committed to making the trip north in the hopes of turning the horseshoe into Neyland North.
I doubt there will be enough Vols fans to completely drown out Buckeyes fans, but there should at least be an orange hue to the sea of scarlet in Ohio Stadium on December 21.
