Heading into the game, oddsmakers have listed the Buckeyes as the favorite to win the Rose Bowl over Oregon in Pasadena, California.
According to ESPN Bet, Ohio State is a -2.5 favorite to move into the semifinals of the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes can be taken for -130 on the moneyline, while the Ducks sit at +110. Ohio State is just a slight favorite and that’s all they will likely be, but it at least is notable. It is obvious that the showing against Tennessee has turned the thought on the Buckeyes a bit.
Back in October, Ohio State fell to Oregon on the road by a score of 32-31. The clock ran out while the Buckeyes had the ball on the Oregon side of the field with a chance to win it. The outcome of that game surely plays a part with the two teams now set to play at a neutral site.
If Ohio State had beaten Michigan, they would have had a spot in the Big Ten Championship game against the Ducks. Instead, they had to watch that game from home and were a higher seed in the playoff.
The vibe is a bit better in Columbus thanks to the win over the Vols. A win over the Ducks would go even further.
