The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that they have placed linebacker Jack Cochrane on injured reserve, and have designated tight end Peyton Hendershot to return to practice.

Cochrane exited Saturday's game against the Houston Texans with an ankle injury and did not return. He will now miss a minimum of four weeks, possibly being able to return for the divisional round of the playoffs if the Chiefs make it that far.

Cochrane will be sorely missed on special teams, leading the unit it snaps played with 297. All five of his tackles recorded this season have been on special teams. Cochrane played well when he had to make a start at linebacker on defense last season.

As for Hendershot, he has missed the last four games with a calf injury. His 21-day practice window has been opened, and he was spotted on the field during the Chiefs' Monday practice by our friend Matt Derrick

We should get more clarity on whether or not Hendershot will play in Kansas City's Christmas Day matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday. If he doesn't, Anthony Firkser should take his place once again. Firkser has appeared in three games for the Chiefs this season, playing mostly on special teams.

Hendershot's biggest role is also on special teams. He has averaged seven snaps on offense during this five appearances this season, catching three passes for 26 yards. K.C. acquired Hendershot in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys for a 2026 seventh-round pick.
