There is only one goal every year for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
That would be a Super Bowl title.
And after their straight loss, and the latest being in embarrassing fashion against the Kansas City Chiefs, it's clear now what many fans already knew:
Pittsburgh is not a Super Bowl contender this season.
Steelers Lose All Respect As Super Bowl Contenders Following Chiefs Loss
Bamboozled, hood winked, led astray, whatever you want to say about the Steelers and their 10-3 record just weeks ago, it's all over after three straight losses to true contenders.
The Philadelphia Eagles game was a wake-up call for the squad, as with no George Pickens they struggled to move the ball against an impressive defense and allowed Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith to have signature games in their 2024 season.
Ok, one loss.
That was followed up by a game where Russell Wilson came back to Earth against the Baltimore Ravens, costing the team the game with two bad turnovers that resulted in another two-score loss.
But the team was without starters like George Pickens, Larry Ogunjobi, and DeShon Elliott, hedging any total give up on the team. Baltimore was also hungry after three straight losses to the Steelers and with the AFC North title on the line.
But it all came to a head against the Kanas City Chiefs.
Despite a push in the middle eight of the game, it was clear both early and late that the Chiefs were a cut above the Steelers.
Russell Wilson once again threw a disastrous interception, the offense sputtered all game, and the secondary looked like Swiss cheese with no Joey Porter Jr.
And sure, Pittsburgh faced three straight title contenders, all in a matter of 11 days and with their best player (T.J. Watt) still nursing an ankle injury.
But no one cares. The Chiefs were without their second-best player, Chris Jones. Patrick Mahomes is still recovering from his ankle injury, and like the Steelers, KC had to play their third contest in 11 days.
So maybe the Steelers get right against the Cincinnati Bengals and build momentum heading into the postseason. But even if that happens, it's likely to occur as a wildcard as opposed to a division champion and will likely result in the same ending as last year, and much of the last decade for this generation of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
