Will Levis does his part to put Titans-Bengals in the wrong NFL history book
You like turnovers? Because, boy, do we have turnovers!
Heading into Sunday, Will Levis had 13 turnovers on the year. By the time the Tennessee Titans finished their losing effort against the Cincinnati Bengals, that number was 17 and Will Levis may very well be out of a job.
That's right, 4 turnovers from Levis in this one. And even crazier is the fact that he only accounted for 40% of the total turnovers in the game! A whopping 10 turnovers hit the city of Nashville in Week 15, as the Titans and Bengals participated in one of the drunkest games of the entire season.
This was the most total turnovers in a game since 2007. There was a taste of absolutely everything: we saw bad passes get picked off, decent passes get tipped by receivers into the hands of defenders, strip sacks, fumbles from running backs, fumbles on designed QB keepers, and fumbles out the back of the endzone by defenders who just returned a would-be pick-6! It was a real cornucopia of turnover delights.
Here's another superlative to highlight how bonkers this game was: it was the first game since 2000 with 10+ turnovers and 25+ penalties. The sheer number of turnovers in this one completely overshadowed the deluge of laundry on the field. The Bengals were flagged 14 times for 113 yards, while Tennessee ate 110 yards on 12 penalties of their own. It's astonishing this game was as watchable as it was, considering the refball taking place.
After that performance to get himself benched in the 3rd quarter, Will Levis is now the first player this season with multiple halves of 0 TD & 3+ turnovers per ESPN Stats & Info. He first did it in the 2nd half of Week 1 at Chicago, and now again in the 1st half vs the Bengals. Kirk Cousins and Mac Jones are the only other players with 1 such half this season.
Levis's 17 turnovers on the year is tied for the most of any single player with Kirk Cousins. For Joe Burrow's part, this was his first game with multiple interceptions thrown since Week 10, 2023.
The Bengals come out of this slop fest another game closer to potentially sneaking their way into the playoffs, while Will Levis stands to potentially never play another snap as a Tennessee Titan.
