The Detroit Lions have been having an unreal season this year, but even the best teams in NFL history lose games. Only seven teams have gone an entire season with just one loss. The Lions won't be the eighth after a 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Goff Report

It's sad because Jared Goff balled out in this game. He was chucking it deep, running for first downs, getting out of sacks, and just generally playing his butt off. Unfortunately, it will be forgotten at the end of the day because the Lions' defense just had a really bad game. Goff finished the day with 494 yards and five touchdowns.

Dan Campbell made a horrible decision

After a week of talking heads repeatedly blaming the Lions' head coach Dan Campbell for rightly going for it on fourth down against the Packers last Thursday, Campbell gave everyone something to actually blame him for in this one.

In 2021 an onside kick that early in the game would have made sense. In a game where you're starting to trend in the right direction where you score a touchdown right after forcing a punt, why would you do this then? It makes no sense at all.

I've been 100% on board with everything Campbell has done in the last four seasons. This was a bad idea and ultimately it shut off any chance the Lions had at a comeback and they had that chance.

Linebackers get beat up by running backs

The Bills had a plan in this game and it worked. That plan was to attack the linebackers with running backs and they did it all night long. The linebackers were just incapable of covering guys so much faster than them and that's how you wind up with former Lions running back Ty Johnson having a career day in the receiving game.

Injuries are eating this team alive

I tried to be positive about these injuries, but there's only so much you can do when this team loses multiple players per game. On Sunday they lost Alim McNeill to a knee injury, Carlton Davis to a jaw injury, and Khalil Dorsey to an ankle injury. I just don't know what this team can do about it anymore.

They're slated to get players back ahead of the playoffs, but when they need to keep pace to get that first seed and win their division, this is not something they can continue to handle.

I wrestled too Tony

I like Tony Romo called games. I think he's good at this. With that said, sometimes he latches on to things a little too much. In particular, he mentioned that Sean McDermott used to wrestle like three or four times and used that as an example of why he's a good coach. With that in mind, anytime I mow my lawn now and my wife compliments me, I'll tell her it's because I wrestled in high school. I'm going to do it for everything.

She'll say "You cooked this steak so well" and I'll say "It's because I won gold at the 2002 Germantown Invitational."

Space Jam arm

It sure does help to have long arms, doesn't it? We know Tim Patrick has them, but they seemingly stretched like Michael Jordan's did at the end of Space Jam on this one. That's Patricks' third of the year. He needs to be nominated for Comeback Player of the Year.

Anytime a big man touchdown happens, an angel gets their wings

This one was a long time coming. It feels like Goff has been trying to get this for Skipper since last year and he finally got it for the big man in this one. You love to see it.

Who cares what anyone says

You're undoubtedly going to hear a lot of chirping from fans of other teams and even a few Lions fans this week. They'll call the Lions frauds and all that stuff. Ignore them because at the end of the day, they want to be where your team is or, if they're Lions fans, they crave unhappiness. This team is still very good and can still win it all. Good teams lose football games. It happens.
