David Montgomery's potentially season-ending injury does give the Lions an exciting chance to unleash a rookie on the world

It sucks. There's really nothing more that you can say about it at this time. Losing David Montgomery for the rest of the year is just a terrible outcome, if that's the outcome, for a team that is trying to win it all. The Lions defense was already falling apart. The thing you had to hold onto was that the offense was healthy. Now they lose a big piece of it.

There is one silver lining to this whole thing and that is that the Lions now get a chance to try something new down the stretch and that something new could help their offense continue to have a ton of balance.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to unleash the Vaki. This is the perfect time for the Lions to start working Sione Vaki into their offense.

Some might think that Craig Reynolds is the way the Lions will go here, but so far when the Lions have had a chance to put a third running back on the field in a blowout win, it's been Vaki who's going out there. We also saw instances at camp where Vaki was playing over Reynolds.

As much as we all love Reynolds, Vaki gives the team a much bigger spark because he runs a lot like Montgomery does. He's a bruiser that can also juke guys out of their shoes.

We also know he can be good in the passing game from what we've seen of him in college and in the preseason. There's just a lot more that he can bring to the offense than Reynolds.

We'll see what the Lions do Sunday in Chicago, but it would be shocking if we don't see Vaki get some caries in that game.
