NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Titans came out flat against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday and the team's incompetence led to an embarrassing 10-6 loss at home.
That puts the Titans in last place in the AFC South standings. It leaves a lot of questions moving forward about head coach Brian Callahan and the future of the franchise. But maybe most notably, Sunday's loss could hurt the Jaguars most of all and have long-term ramifications on the AFC South.
Jacksonville entered Sunday on pace to have the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But with so many teams sitting with the same record and vying for those top draft slots, the Jaguars ended Sunday in line for the fifth overall selection.
In a weird twist of fate, Tennessee's incompetence could end up taking Travis Hunter away from a division rival. That'll make Sunday's win end up feeling like a loss for Jacksonville.
As for the Titans, they moved up just one spot with the loss and are now one pick behind the Jaguars in the projected draft order. At 3-10, the Titans are in line for the sixth overall pick. There are six teams with that same record right now occupying picks 3-8 with the tie breaker being determined by strength of schedule. Here's a look at the Top 10 as it sits this morning:
1. Las Vegas Raiders (2-11)
2. New York Giants (2-11)
3. New England Patriots (3-10)
4. Carolina Panthers (3-10)
5. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-10)
6. Tennessee Titans (3-10)
7. New York Jets (3-10)
8. Cleveland Browns (3-10)
9. Chicago Bears (4-9)
10. Cincinnati Bengals (4-8)
The Titans remaining schedule includes matchups with the Bengals, Texans, Colts, and another one against the Jaguars.
The craziest thing is that the Titans could realistically lose out and finish 3-14, but still barely hold on to a Top 5 pick in the draft.
