The Oklahoma Sooners had a terrible season in 2024, as we have now said one million times it feels like. But, somehow, they still had an elite defense with elite defenders and performances week to week. Their record didn't always reflect that, but the Sooners did truly have one of the best defenses in the SEC.
And even during this terrible year, one of the worst in maybe 26 years, the last time they didn't make a bowl game, they still have players that NFL teams are very interested in, like Danny Stutsman and Billy Bowman, two of the best defenders in college football at their respected positions.
Another guy, who I'm sure you didn't hear his name a lot, is entering the draft. Now, whether teams have a huge interest in him or not is another thing, but he could be a guy who could make his dreams come true when April rolls around.
Davon Sears Jr., a veteran on the defensive line for the Sooners, has announced that he is entering his name into the pool of players for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Last year, the Sooners had a similar type of player get drafted in Jonah Laulu, who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts late in the draft, released, and picked up by the Las Vegas Raiders. And while the Raiders aren't a great team, they have relied on him a ton this season and he has come through time and time again.
As for Sears, he has played two games in 2024, against Maine and Temple. So, there isn't really much to go off of. Now, that doesn't mean that NFL scouts and front offices won't like what they see on film.
You have to wish the guy luck as he moves forward and pursues his football dream.
