Jeremiah Smith was projected to take over the Big Ten as soon as he hit the field, and he delivered with a record-breaking performance this season. The true freshman has been the talk of the country, using his immense physical gifts to dominate opponents and earning praise for his work ethic.
On Tuesday, Smith was recognized for his efforts. Smith was named the Big Ten Receiver of the Year and Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He became the second Big Ten player ever to win both awards, joining Purdue star Rondale Moore.
Smith follows in Marvin Harrison Jr.'s footsteps in winning the Big Ten Receiver of the Year Award. Harrison won it in 2022 and 2023, giving Ohio State three straight victors.
Notably, he's the 11th Buckeye in school history to nab the Big Ten Conference of the Year Award. C.J. Stroud was the last Buckeye to win it, but here's the full list.

Smith has claimed both awards after breaking Ohio State’s freshman records for wide receivers, with 57 receptions for 934 yards and 10 touchdowns. The previous records, which included 51 receptions for 648 yards and eight touchdowns, had remained unbeaten for 40 years since Cris Carter achieved them in 1984.
If Smith can exceed 66 receiving yards in the postseason, he will become the first Ohio State freshman and only the 10th Buckeye in history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a single season. He is already among a select group of 17 Buckeyes who have recorded 10 receiving touchdowns in one season.
