The Detroit Lions fret over it all summer long. I'll never forget sitting in that press room at Allen Park and seeing Dan Campbell say this about his receivers outside of Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson William

"Yeah, it's still the same as where it's been at. We're waiting for somebody to step forward, you know? We're waiting for anyone of those guys to step forward. We're dying for somebody to step up and say, 'Hey, man, I'm your guy. I'll be the same consistent player every day and find a way to make a play everyday.

The big thing the Lions wanted to do was get Josh Reynolds back and they were unable to do that. Reynolds left and signed with the Broncos and from there we heard Dan Campbell talk about how much he wanted to have a guy like Reynolds.

"Honestly, what it is, is we just need a reliable staple, you know? Like, that's what Reynolds was for us. Josh Reynolds was the reliable guy we could count on he was gonna be where he's supposed to be when he was supposed to be there to play any spot, and he'd make a critical catch for you"

As we go into the final five games of the year, the Lions now have a chance to make that a reality now that Josh Reynolds has been waived by the Broncos.

This guy was a huge part of the Lions offense in 2023. Don't think too much about the dropped passes in the NFC Championship game, this guy was a stud. He caught 40 passes last year and 32 of them were for first downs. You want a guy on your team that can do that.

Yes, the Lions have Tim Patrick and they should stick with both of them. With Kalif Raymond out, here's a guy that can help you get some more production in the pass game. The Lions could put him on the practice squad and then elevate him until they're ready to find a roster spot for him. Or they can wait till the playoffs when elevations reset.

This just makes way too much sense to not do. Let's sit back and see if they do it. Reynolds does have to clear waivers first and if the Lions don't put in a claim and nobody else does too, they can sign him as a free agent next week.
