The Ohio State Buckeyes hoped to catch a break with star left tackle Josh Simmons, who suffered a torn ACL against Oregon earlier this season. Simmons, who is one of the premier blockers in the country, had one more year of collegiate eligibility remaining. Instead of returning to the Buckeyes for 2025, Simmons has other plans.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Simmons will enter the 2025 NFL Draft. He could be a first-round pick, depending on the health of his knee. Agent Drew Rosenhaus said his knee will be cleared by the summer.
"Josh will be fully cleared for practice by the start of NFL training camp and he will be a high first-round pick,” Rosenhaus said.
The former San Diego State transfer had been a massive presence for the Buckeyes' improved offensive line until his injury occurred. Now, the Buckeyes may need to return to the transfer portal to replace Simmons and senior right tackle Josh Fryar.

Simmons had allowed only one sack and 12 quarterback hurries in more than 1,100 snaps for the Buckeyes. He earned an All-Big Ten nomination despite missing half the season.
