The New Orleans Saints are probably beginning to look ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft. With a top ten selection, it is a bit intriguing to see what sort of talent may be available when they come onto the clock.
Dane Brugler, a respected NFL Draft analyst, unveiled his first mock draft this week for the 2025 NFL Draft. New Orleans helped their offense in his layout of round one.
Saints take a wide receiver
During Brugler's mock, quarterbacks and linemen go rather early, as well as the top cornerback on the board. Accordingly, the Saints simply take the best player available, who also fills a need on their offense.
10. New Orleans Saints: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
Even with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed expected back in the fold next year, the Saints need more playmaking size at receiver.
McMillan isn’t going to blow away teams with his 40-yard dash, but his catch-point skills will win over NFL coaches. Using his Gumby-ish adjustment skills, he does an outstanding job expanding his catch radius, high pointing and becoming a threat as a ball carrier. — Brugler
The massive target would provide a true "X" sort of option for Derek Carr, or whoever is playing quarterback in New Orleans in 2025.
McMillan is an exciting prospect due to his unbelievable hands and surprising after-the-catch ability. He's a smoother mover than many want to give him credit for at his size, and there's no doubt that he is a first round talent in this year's class.
Every NFL offense that doesn't have a true X WR is looking for one. And in this year's draft, every team searching for it should have McMillan ranked high, if not at the top of their board. You can't teach a WR to have his elite measurables and incredible production go along with it, making him one of the top WRs in this year's draft class. His overall draft position probably comes down to the style of WR a team is targeting, but he should certainly hear his name called in the top half of the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
In Brugler's scenario, he made the correct choice for the Saints and their future, both in the short and long-term.
