Ohio State suffered a loss to Michigan that put them at 10-2 on the season, and put a dark cloud over Columbus for the time being. Going into the game, the Buckeyes were favored by three possessions. They scored just 10 points and allowed 13, including a late game-winning drive.
Following the game, tempers flared for Ohio State when they took exception to a Michigan flag being planted on the field. Defensive end Jack Sawyer ripped the flag from the individual and a brawl broke out from there.
After things cleared out, Michigan running back Kalel Mullings revealed what is likely the truth about what happened after the game.
“For such a great game, you hate to see stuff like that after the game. It’s just bad for the sport, bad for college football. But at the end of the day, some people, they gotta learn how to lose. You can’t be fighting and stuff just because you lost a game. We had 60 minutes, we had four quarters to do all that fighting,” Mullings told Fox’s Jenny Taft.
Mullings was the workhorse for Michigan, as he usually is. The stud running back was handed the ball 32 times and finished with 116 yards and a touchdown for the Wolverines. Ohio State and Michigan were tied at 10 a piece at halftime, and the Wolverines pitched a second-half shutout.
Ohio State had more yards (252) than Michigan (234) but two costly turnovers hurt them a ton. Michigan was set up first and goal after an early game interception from Will Howard. While the other interception happened in the red zone.
"Fresh off the game right now. Obviously, extremely disappointed and angry that we didn't execute well enough," Ryan Day said after the game. "This is not easy to accept. Have to take ownership."
The post-game brawl is a bad look for the Buckeyes, who could have taken the loss on the chin and went about their business. Ohio State did their fair share of talking before the game just to lose.
“It is just bad for the game, classless in my opinion. People got to be better.”
Ryan Day just fed the daunting narrative around him with Ohio State’s fourth-straight loss to Michigan
The Buckeyes can’t get it done.
