The Tennessee Vols are hoping to hang on to 2025 five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr after the Charlotte, NC native took a recent visit to Ohio State.
Sanders, who has been committed to Tennessee since August, is rated as the No. 1 offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class. He took a visit to Ohio State last month for the Buckeyes' win against Indiana, leading to speculation that the coveted recruit could flip his commitment before the early signing period this week.
On3's Steve Wiltfong, however, noted on Sunday evening that the "intel" suggests that Sanders is going to stick with Tennessee.
"The intel right now favors Sanders sticking with the Vols but he’s still dotting i’s and crossing t’s on his recruitment and the Buckeyes will keep pushing as well," wrote Wiltfong.
Wiltfong also confirmed that Sanders didn't visit Ohio State this past weekend for the Buckeyes' surprising home loss to Michigan.
The Vols aren't quite out of the woods yet — Sanders still hasn't said much about his renewed interest in Ohio State, so we aren't 100 percent sure where his mind is at — but it certainly seems like Tennessee has regained the momentum in this recruiting battle.
Tennessee currently has the No. 9 2025 recruiting class in the nation. That ranking would take quite a tumble if the Vols lose Sanders to the Buckeyes.
