Where Titans Will Levis ranks among the best NFL QBs since returning from injury speaks volumes

NASHVILLE – While the Tennessee Titans were a disaster on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, second-year quarterback Will Levis continued to play at a high level and develop in Brian Callahan's offense.
Thanks to two fumbles and feeble run defense, the Titans had fallen behind 28-0 before Levis even got to make his presence felt. But down the stretch, Levis ended up turning another solid performance.
Levis finished the day 18-for-37 with 212 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no turnovers. I also think it's important to mention that Levis' 18-for-37 and 48.6 completion percentage was hindered by a series of 6+ drops from Titans receivers.
For a moment, Levis had played the Titans back into the game. Tennessee cut it to two scores at one point in the second half despite the early hole. There were also significant signs of development in Levis' pocket awareness and willingness to throw the ball away.
Stacking Good Performances
If this was a one-off performance, I'd have a far more tame response. But this is four weeks in a row now since returning from his shoulder injury that Levis has looked like a completely transformed quarterback.
In the last four weeks, Levis has completed 61.7 percent of his passes, thrown for 960 yards, seven touchdowns, two interceptions, and has a passer rating of 101.4. He is averaging 8.3 yards per pass attempt.
Over that stretch, he is Top 10 in the NFL in passing yards (9th), passing touchdowns (8th), passer rating (6th), and yards per attempt (2nd) all while being sacked 22 times, more than any other quarterback. While some of those sacks can definitely be attributed to Levis for poor pocket awareness or his refusal to throw the ball away, it's undeniable that the situation around him has been less than ideal.
The Titans have an obvious problem at right tackle, and left tackle JC Latham is still a rookie. As good as he has been this year, he has some growing to do.
It goes without saying that Levis is not in the same tier as the best quarterbacks in the league. But it's hard to deny that he has been playing like an above-average starting caliber quarterback over the last month. That could be all it takes to get him another year to prove he's the future.
With what we've seen from the Titans lately, Will Levis is nowhere near the top of the list of problems that Tennessee will have to address next offseason. He has shown the ability to play at a high level with consistency and can be expected to continue improving with a clean bill of health and a quarterback guru head coach in Brian Callahan working with him.
The Titans are currently projected to have the 7th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, in which case it's highly unlikely they would entertain drafting a new QB.
