Sunday's miserable Week 12 loss to the Green Bay Packers did not provide the San Francisco 49ers with much to smile about.

The Niners slumped to a 38-10 defeat at Lambeau Field on the back of a catalogue of self-inflicted wounds.

It was an all too familiar tale for the 49ers, one that ended with them falling to 5-6 on the season with another big blow to their ailing playoff hopes.

But all is not quite lost yet, thanks to an NFC West rival that beat the 49ers just seven days ago.

The Seattle Seahawks' 16-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals means that, while the 49ers will end the week last in the division, they are still only a game back of Seattle and Arizona, who are now in a tie for first.

However, the problem for the 49ers is that they hold no tiebreakers in the division, meaning they still have a steep climb to overhaul the division leaders.

And with the Niners two games in the win column behind the Washington Commanders in the race for the Wild Card spots, it's becoming increasingly hard to make a case for them reaching the postseason, even if they did get some in-division help.
