Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray revealed his top 12 college football rankings and he has the Tennessee Vols ranked below a surprise SEC program.
Murray has Tennessee at No. 8 and Georgia at No. 5 in his rankings.
Sandwiched in between Georgia and Tennessee (and Penn State, which is at No. 7 in Murray's rankings) is South Carolina at No. 6.
South Carolina at No. 6 is higher than you'll see the Gamecocks in almost any other rankings.
The Gamecocks are 8-3 on the season, but they're in the midst of a five game winning streak after their 56-12 blowout win against Wofford this past weekend.
South Carolina, however, could easily be 10-1 right now. The Gamecocks are a bad call and a fumble away from beating LSU and Alabama. They also lost 27-3 to Ole Miss in Columbia. The Gamecocks are probably worthy of being a top 10 team because of the way they're playing right now. But losses matter. And South Carolina is unlikely to sneak into the top 10 because of that third loss, unless they receive a significant amount of help in the last week of the regular season.
