The Lions are road warriors for maybe the first time ever and Aaron Glenn deserves a ton of the credit for that

It was not too long ago when the Detroit Lions were on one hell of a bad streak on the road. They went from December 6th 2020, with Darrell Bevell as the head coach, to November 13th 2022 without a win on the road. When the Lions got that 31-30 win over the Bears in Chicago, that was a huge deal for this team. Since then they've been 16-5 on the road.
This year the Lions have not been beaten outside of their building and their defense is the big reason why that's happening. Obviously we know the Lions put up points everywhere, but their defense is making sure they don't allow their opponents to do the same.
In six road games the Lions have allowed just six touchdowns. That is absolutely insane. It doesn't end there. The Lions are allowing a red zone scoring percentage of just 28% on the road. That's of course when the Lions allow teams to get to the red zone. They've only done it 14 times on the road this year.
Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn deserves a ton of credit for this. Not only have the Lions been good, they've been able to do all this in the face of constant adversity. They lost Aidan Hutchinson, Derrick Barnes, Marcus Davenport, Alex Anzalone, Ifeatu Melifonwu, John Cominsky and more and they still just keep banging along.
It's because Glenn has been able to scheme around all that. One of the big things that's helping is rotation. The Lions are putting fresh players in and out a lot and they've all been coached up so well that it's not a giant drop off when they're in. The depth has been a huge for this team and if they're not well coached and in the right places, bad things happen.
Glenn should be a shoe in for the Assistant Coach of the Year award this season and even if he doesn't win it, he is going to be red hot caching candidate in the upcoming cycle. Even his players know it.
