The rumored move has happened for the Minnesota Vikings.

On Wednesday, reports came out that the Vikings signed quarterback Daniel Jones to the practice squad. It's a move that was rumored since he asked for his release after the New York Giants benched him.

When he did get released, reports surfaced that Jones wanted to play for a contender and the Vikings ended up winning out. With head coach Kevin O'Connell's track record in helping quarterbacks, it was a no brainer for Jones to come here.

Kevin O'Connell opens up about Daniel Jones

On Monday, O'Connell was asked about Jones and he declined to give an answer on if the Vikings were interested.

"I'm not going to really get into that today, but I will say I have tons of respect for Daniel Jones as a player and a person. I got to know him through the draft process years ago and I am sure now that he's a free agent and there's probably a ton of league-wide interest in him. Daniel's going to make the decision that's best for him in his career moving forward and I'm sure he's working through that process right now. I really can't get into too much about you know any short term or long term I can just say I've you I've been a fan of Daniel for a long time and hope wherever his next stop takes him, it’s a good opportunity for him."

O'Connell did the right thing in keeping ambiguity just in case that Jones decided not to sign with the Vikings. Once the move was reported, O'Connell had no issues sharing his thoughts on Jones, who he respects quite a bit.

"I've always been a fan, love, really like the person, the human being, the makeup and then the player, Daniel Jones. I think there's so much out in front of him that are going to be really good things that we get to personally be a part of, and I can't wait to work with him if and when that does go finalized."

The signing of Jones is really good in theory, as it's never a bad idea to have a player with a lot of starting experience in the building. There is also a chance that the Vikings could end up with a compensatory pick this offseason.

Right now, the Vikings will start Jones on the practice squad, which is objectively fine. Let him learn the offense and see what happens. It also gives him the opportunity to go to a team that needs a starter if that opportunity arises.
