Former Tennessee Vols tight end Princeton Fant received some great NFL news on Wednesday, just ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday
Fant, who played at Tennessee from 2017 to 2022 (which means he played for Butch Jones, Jeremy Pruitt, and Josh Heupel), learned on Wednesday that he's been signed from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad to the active roster for the franchise's game against the New York Giants on Thanksgiving.
Fant, who has a cousin (tight end Noah Fant) who plays for the Seattle Seahawks, landed with the Cowboys in 2023 as an undrafted free agent.
The former Vol has played in five career NFL games for the Cowboys, seeing action mostly on special teams.
Fant is best remembered at Tennessee for his solid 2022 season on Rocky Top, in which he scored eight touchdowns on 28 total touches (he had five rushing touchdowns on six attempts). He also had a key two-point conversion in Tennessee's win against Alabama in 2022.
Dallas and New York played at 4:30 PM ET on Thanksgiving Day.
Former Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who was Fant's teammate for three seasons at Tennessee, is a wide receiver for the Giants.
