The Tennessee Vols are currently ranked No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

Because of automatic byes for the top four ranked conference winners, Tennessee would be the No. 9 seed taking on the Ohio State Buckeyes on the road in the first round of the playoff.

The final playoff bracket won't be revealed until after this weekend's conference championship games.

There are only a couple of scenarios that can play out that will change the rankings because only a handful of teams are playing this weekend.

The games that Vols fans will mostly be keeping an eye on are the Big 10 Championship game between Penn State and Oregon and the SEC Championship game between Georgia and Texas.

Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt reveals his final College Football Playoff bracket prediction

Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt revealed his final College Football Playoff bracket prediction on Thursday and he doesn't have the Vols playing Ohio State in the first round.

Instead, Klatt has Tennessee playing Penn State on the road (Klatt is predicting that Oregon will beat Penn State in the Big 10 Championship game).

He has Penn State falling below Ohio State but not below Tennessee.

Klatt explained that he thinks the committee would "reward" Penn State for making the Big 10 Championship game by giving the Nittany Lions a home game in the first round, instead of dropping below Tennessee.

That decision would be debatable, but it's a scenario that I could certainly see playing out for the Vols when the final rankings are revealed on Sunday.
