The Las Vegas Raiders, despite their reputation for a formidable defense, have been grappling with an offensive unit that's failing to deliver, casting a long shadow over their season.
The offensive struggles were particularly evident in their recent 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. While it may feel like the offense was better overall than it had previously been against games like their loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, and even the Denver Broncos. The offense was still bad, nonetheless.
The Raiders offensive line, a mix of rookies and seasoned players, has been a focal point of criticism, struggling not just in pass protection but also in creating running lanes, evidenced by their ranking near the bottom of the NFL in rushing stats even though head coach Antonio Pierce wants the identity of the team to be a running team.
Now, Getsy's seat isn't getting any cooler, especially after doing what he did on Sunday against the Chiefs. And no, I'm not even talking about the three straight run pays on third and goal at the three-yard line. This is something else that is making fans call for his job.
This picture shows offensive tackle Thayer Munford lined up as a wide receiver. There isn't really anything else to say about it, other than they shouldn't be trying any crazy trick plays, especially not one that has an offensive lineman lined up outside.
The offense's inability to adjust on the fly, particularly noticeable after initial game scripts are countered by opposing defenses, underscores a deeper systemic issue requiring immediate attention if the Raiders are to turn their season around. This scheme isn't great, and Getsy isn't helping by making these crazy decisions, especially against teams like the Chiefs.
