FOXBOROUGH, Mass – The New England Patriots are in a complete rebuild, so many expect them to be sellers at the trade deadline.
They have already sent Joshua Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs, but there are two other names that the team has received calls about.
Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer said during an appearance on NBC Sports Boston that other teams have inquired about wide receivers K.J. Osborn and Tyquan Thornton.
"The names I’ve heard they’ve gotten calls on are actually interesting. It’s K.J. Osborn and it’s Tyquan Thornton,” Breer said. “And I think the reason why Thornton has some value to teams is because that sort of speed, you can’t coach it, right? So every coach looks at a guy like that and says, ‘I can do something with him.'"
With these rumors floating around and the deadline fast approaching, A to Z Sports spoke with the two receivers about all of this.
"It's different. It's definitely different," Osborn explained. "It's the first time in my career that I've been in this situation or position. But you can't control that stuff."
"Just taking it day by day," he added. "I'm here and going to try and get out there today, having a good practice, and take it day by day. Otherwise, you start worrying about the future and the past, you'll drive yourself crazy."
Thornton's answer was very similar.
"Just be where my feet are at," he said. "I have no control over that, so that's all I got to say."
However, while these rumors are circulating, Osborn's focus remains on the field.
"I don't see a lot of it," he told A to Z Sports. "It's in the front of your mind if you see it. To be honest, even even after I talk to ya'll, I don't know what's being said after unless my mom calls me. She's the one looking stuff up… I really don't see it much so there's really not much for me to think about."
So would he welcome staying in New England?
"Yeah, I've enjoyed my time here," Osborn said. "There's been adversity. It's been different. But a lot of stuff I can't really control."
And for Thornton, he is using this adversity to become stronger.
"I feel like I've grown a lot," he said. Adversity causes some men to break, and some men to break records."
The trade deadline is on Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. ET.
