NFL players miss practice for all sorts of reasons, but it’s usually for the kinds of the things your average football fan can’t relate to. Not everyone has to deal with a hamstring injury, a torn ACL, or the countless other injuries that bug professional athletes.

But Brandon Aubrey took relatable to a whole new level when it comes to pro football players as he was absent from the Cowboys’ opening practice of the week because he had… jury duty.

It even shows up on the official Injury Report as such, something that has amused the NFL community, with NFL Network Senior Editor and Producer Clayton Holloway even claiming on X “This is a first…”

And man, it couldn’t have happened to a more perfect player.

Think about it: Aubrey wasn’t supposed to play in the NFL, let alone be a First-Team All-Pro kicker. He was a professional Software Development Engineer for multiple years (he has a LinkedIn profile that shows he still holds such a position) before getting a shot at pro football with the USFL and later in Dallas. And now he’s missing practice for jury duty. How fascinating is that?

And to add to the perfection of Aubrey, he's a darn good kicker and is currently proving he was never a "one-year wonder." He's 17-of-19 in field goal attempts for the season, including eight of 50+ yards and another six from 40-49 yards.

I get a feeling he'll do a great job at jury duty.
