This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys signed Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to contract extensions worth a combined $376 million. And yet, a weekly theme of the 2024 Cowboys appears to be that the two are simply not on the same page.

Often times, miscommunications have led to key incompletions and sometimes even interceptions. Simply put, their chemistry has been unacceptable one year after they dominated week in and week out throughout the 2023 NFL season en route to All-Pro honors.

The excuses based on Lamb missing training camp during contract negotiations have run out as other players around the league who also held out have managed to get going. Now, the duo had the chance to get in some extra work thanks to the bye week. The time to connect is now. Lamb knows it.

“We love our bye weeks, we took advantage of it, anything we felt like we missed out together as a unit, as a duo, we hopped on it, we got right," Lamb told reporters on Thursday. "We used every opportunity that we could to get better and I feel like it’s going to show."

"We got on some routes, and obviously the timing is everything," he added. "We needed that.”

The Cowboys need Lamb's words to show up on the field. Now granted, these two have had some great moments throughout the year. In fact, per the Cowboys PR, "Lamb has one reception of 25-plus yards in every game in 2024. With a 25-yard catch against the 49ers, Lamb will become the only Cowboy in the last 30 years with at least one 25-yard reception in seven straight games."

The problem is the fact that the Cowboys have struggled to keep No. 88 going for four quarters of football. It feels like his production comes in doses at times. Part of that is on the quarterback, some of it on the receiver, and another bit on the coaching staff, whose job it is to manufacture touches for its most dynamic playmaker even when defenses are zeroing in on him.

The 49ers boast the third best pass defense per DVOA. Levi's Stadium is a place where the Cowboys have had enormous amounts of trouble in recent years. Getting going after the bye week won't be easy.
