On Wednesday, the Indianapolis Colts saw star players DeForest Buckner and Jonathan Taylor return to practice for the first time since both suffered their current injuries.

Following Thursday's practice, the team released their practice report, which shared that both Buckner and Taylor checked an important box toward returning on gameday.

DeForest Buckner and Jonathan Taylor logged a full practice ahead of Week 8 vs. Texans

Getting both Buckner and Taylor back on the practice field at all this week was a significant step in the right direction. But seeing them log full practices on Thursday creates some real steam towards both potentially playing in Week 8 against the Houston Texans.

The Colts opened Buckner's practice window this week. That means he currently remains on the team's IR list and has 21 days to come off of it, or his season is over. Once the Colts decide to activate him from IR, he will rejoin the team's active roster, and as a result, the team will have to waive/release a player to make room for their star DT.

Taylor, on the other hand, is already on the Colts' active roster. They chose not to place him on IR after suffering a high ankle sprain at the end of their win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. A high ankle sprain typically takes at least four weeks to heal, so choosing not to place him on the IR was a gamble by the team. The presumed reason for doing this was to give him a chance to play in this highly important game. After logging the full practice on Thursday, it seems that their gamble was warranted.

We will know more about Buckner and Taylor's chances to play in Week 8 after the team releases their final injury report of the week after Friday's practice. The hope is both end up with no worse than a questionable status. The dream, of course, is that one or both are announced as officially active for the game. But either way, seeing both log a full practice feels like a great sign towards both returning to sooner rather than later.
