The Las Vegas Raiders have the best tight end in the league, and yet, he's just a rookie. There's something about Bowers that stands out — his uncanny ability to always get open and catch every ball thrown his way, no matter how many defenders are draped over him.

They needed a quarterback, but after the Atlanta Falcons drafted Michael Penix at pick No. 8, the Raiders were put in a tough spot. His ceiling is high; he just was not a guy a lot of people, if any, had the Raiders getting, because he was widely considered the best overall player in the entire draft, and it's looking like that now.

Last season, the Raiders took defensive end Tyree Wilson in the first round. This year, they went a different direction by drafting a tight end.

The Las Vegas Raiders really needed to go with a cornerback or offensive tackle with their first pick. They have much bigger needs than the tight end, which is far down the list.

But, the pick was likely one that factored in the best player available, and to many, Bowers is the best player in the draft; just doesn't play the most important position. Now, he's the best tight end in the league.

Now that he's showing it was the right pick to make, parts of the Raiders fan base feel as if the team is wasting his elite talent and elite rookie season. And, while it does seem that way, as the team is 2-6 and with games against the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Chargers, all games they could lose.

But, that's just the thing, this isn't a waste, this is putting Brock Bowers on display for the quarterbacks in the draft to see that if they go to the Las Vegas Raiders, they will have their security blanket, best friend, and anything else they need in a weapon.

The Raiders are using his rookie season to make the Raiders more of a destination they want to go to, for the draft prospects in this upcoming draft. And, I think it may be working.
