Election Day might just be the secret sauce that gets Dallas Cowboys to pull off much-needed trade

Let me start off by saying this: The Dallas Cowboys front office has been extremely passive for all of 2024 and it's highly unlikely that will change ahead of the upcoming NFL trade deadline next Tuesday.
But then again, you can never underestimate Jerry Jones' relentless desire to make headlines.
Earlier this year, he waited to make Mike Zimmer's hiring as defensive coordinator official until the week of the Super Bowl, even though it was the worst kept secret in football that it was done. He sacrificed salary cap space efficiency by waiting until the last moment to extend Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. He's happy about former players knocking the Cowboys' focus on winning because it's free publicity for the team's fan tours. The list goes on and on.
That's why Jones was asked on Friday on 105.3 The Fan about the possibility of making a big enough trade next Tuesday to steal some attention from Election Day.
When asked about it, Jones couldn't help but laugh and say "Yes."
You see, with the NFL pushing the trade deadline until after Week 9 this year and moving forward, it turns out it shares the same calendar slot as Election Day. Many have perceived it as an oversight from the league but it likely was the only way to really make it work, as it kind of has to happen on a Tuesday.
Jones also took the opportunity to encourage listeners to go out and vote.
"And I say that, recognizing that that puts what's important to me in the right perspective," Jones added. "We all know how critical this election is, but in my world it means more if we can work on something out here in practice that can beat Atlanta. But the election is a big day for all of us, an important day. I hope the Cowboys get something good that can advance the ball a little bit and hopefully the ball advances for the country."
In all seriousness, the Cowboys are unlikely to make any major moves. Their playoff probabilities are already quite low and they have been discreetly treating this season as a rebuild, so moving on from future draft picks would be out of character for this front office.
"We’re looking for meat on the bone that can improve our team," said Jones about a potential trade.
The suspense won't last that long, as we're only a few days away from November 5th.

It needs to happen.
