Week 10 of the college football season brought the Ohio State Buckeyes the perfect opportunity to pick up a big win and they did just that on the road against Penn State. Coming into the game, the Nittany Lions were undefeated and 7-0. Ohio State handed them their first loss by a score of 20-13 and Ryan Day was ecstatic after the game.

Moments after the game, Coach Day can be seen in the video below with offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and both are visibly ecstatic. It kind of just shows what this game meant to Ohio State and how much they needed it after losing to Oregon last month.

Day was just 2-7 against teams in the top five at Ohio State coming into the game. Playing the No. 3 team on the road in a Big Ten matchup was one that stood out as a huge chance to make a statement. This is easily the biggest road win for the Buckeyes during the regular season during Day’s tenure. In fact, this is the first time Ohio State has beaten a top-five team on the road during the regular season since 2006 against Texas.

Ohio State’s offense was good enough with a balanced attack leading to 358 yards against a Penn State defense that is looked at as one of the best in the country. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles has to be happy with the defensive effort that allowed just 270 yards to Penn State.

Everything remains on the table for Ohio State in terms of its goals. Big matchups with Indiana and Michigan are still ahead and both will be played at home. The Buckeyes can feel good about this win for now, then their focus turns to their next game against Purdue.
