The Indianapolis Colts made the plays needed to pull out a close win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 7.

That included them doing something I don't think anyone predicted before the season began.

The Colts held the Dolphins WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in check

When the schedule was released, a lot of people who follow the Colts circled the Dolphins game as a potential nightmare matchup. All offseason long, the Colts' young secondary was far and away the most scrutinized position group on the team's roster. So, a matchup against the Dolphins and their two-star WRs, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, caused many to be concerned.

Now, it's important to note that the Colts and the Dolphins had to play today without key players on both sides of the ball. The Dolphins were most notably without their starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa. They instead played today's game with Tyler Huntley and Tim Boyle. But no matter the quarterback under center, the Colts held Hill and Waddle to lower numbers than anyone could have imagined.

Hill and Waddle combined had two receptions for 19 yards during the Colts and Dolphins Week 7 matchup. Both WRs only had two targets each, and that's with both Dolphins QBs combining for 26 pass attempts. If you told me the Colts would do this before the season started, I would have called you a liar. And if you had told me the Colts starting outside CBs in the game would be 2023 7th-round pick Jaylon Jones and a waiver wire pickup (Samuel Womack III), I would have flat-out laughed in your face. So take the time to give these young Colts corners their flowers because they stepped up to the plate and did something many thought would be impossible.
