Over the last few weeks, Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles has been trending upward, and very quickly. Not only is he beginning to become very comfortable at the linebacker position after playoff safety and overhang his first two years, but he is also generating more and more buzz to potentially be a part of the 2025 NFL Draft class.
According to a source, that 2025 talk is very premature. Despite a lot of buzz for Styles, it is believed that he will more than likely return to the Buckeyes for one more season in 2025. In fact, there hasn’t even been much debate over that topic right now. Barring a change of heart down the stretch, declaring early for the draft seems very unlikely.
On the season, Styles has recorded 39 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a fumble recovery. Through six games, he currently leads the Buckeyes in total tackles. Styles has gotten better and better seemingly every week.
In the preseason, there was a lot of NFL buzz about Styles. There were several third and fourth round grades being floated around, which was very impressive considering he was transitioning to a new position.
The NFL tends to fall for physical tools, which Styles isn’t short of. At a verified 6’4 ¼” and 239 pounds, there isn’t a lot that Styles can’t do on a football field. He can fit in the box, blitz, cover and has done all of those things from various alignments. With a big year of development, he could have an argument as the top linebacker in the 2026 NFL Draft class.
