The New Orleans Saints are making a move for their offense. With Spencer Rattler as the seemingly expected starting quarterback once again in Week 8, he could have another playmaker to throw the football to against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Saints sign Marquez Valdes-Scantling

New Orleans is adding the former two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Washington Commanders, Indianapolis Colts, and other teams had interest in the veteran wideout, according to Jeremy Fowler.

MVS visited with the Saints on Sunday evening and had a physical on Monday morning, to wrap up his trip.

Valdes-Scantling still has the speed to stretch the field, but his hands have proven to be inconsistent. He does have a penchant for making plays in big moments, but if you're expecting him to be anything more than a tertiary piece for your offense, you're betting on the wrong horse. — Charles Goldman, A to Z Sports

Clearly, both sides had strong interest. Now, their rookie quarterback has a new downfield threat, and Derek Carr could find a great connection with Valdes-Scantling.

Carr's strongest connection this season was with Rashid Shaheed, New Orleans' young downfield option with blazing speed. He will miss the rest of the season due to a meniscus injury. Shaheed had surgery last week.

At 6'4, the veteran wideout provides size that the Saints simply do not possess on most of their WR depth chart. For depth, he was a smart addition.
