Two players from the New York Jets were fined because of plays that happened during the Sunday Night Football loss to the Pittsburgh Steleers last week. The NFL announced the fines on Saturday.

Off-ball linebacker Quincy Williams was fined $45k, a significant amount, for unnecessary roughness (use of the helmet). This was the play:

Defensive tackle Leonard Taylor was also punished, but it was a lighter amount of money. Taylor was fined $4,435 for a roughing the passer penalty against Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson. The play happened during the second quarter of the game. The NFL deemed it a blow to the head/neck area.

While it's tough to see football players losing money like that for normal plays, at least it goes to a good cause. The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support legends in need.

The Jets lost 37-15 to the Steelers, falling to 2-5 in the regular season standings. The team has a chance at getting back on track on Sunday, when they have an AFC East matchup against the New England Patriots, who are 1-6 in the season.
