The Indianapolis Colts have won in back-to-back weeks and four of their last five games, and they are 4-3 on the year.

Today, they take on their divisional rival, the Houston Texans, who sit atop the AFC South rankings at 5-2. The Colts came close but ultimately fell short in Week 1, losing to the Texans by a score of 29 to 27

As they try to avoid being swept by the Texans in Week 8, the Colts have some significant reinforcements returning to the field.

Colts Week 8 inactives

This is as clean of an inactive list as you will see in the NFL. Not a single starter was ruled out of this game for the Colts besides the three players currently on the IR list (Samson Ebukam, Will Fries, Tyquan Lewis). This means DeForest Buckner and Jonathan Taylor are officially back on the field after missing multiple weeks with ankle injuries. Both returned to practice this week, and you could tell there was significant optimism around both playing against the Texans today.

The most notable inactives are Isaiah Land and David Long Jr. I was shocked to see both being healthy scratches. Land has made plays when his number has been called off the edge, but he's the fourth edge rusher on the depth chart right now, and it looks like they prioritized other positions today. Long Jr. is inactive with Chris Lammons making his return to action today. Lammons is the clear better special teams option and has the ability to play in the slot if need be, which seems to have given him the edge over Long.

Texans Week 8 inactives

While the Colts inactive list doesn't include a single starter, that's not the case for the Texans. They will be without three defensive starters today, with safety Jimmie Ward and linebackers Azeez Al-Shaair and Henry To'oto'o officially inactive. Additionally, they will be without wide receiver Nico Collins, who, due to being placed on the IR, was not eligible to play this week. The Texans will look to multiple reserve players to fill critical roles as they look to stretch their lead in the AFC South and continue to show why many believe they are one of the best teams in the NFL this season.
