The Las Vegas Raiders had a chance to tie the game or even take the lead. Really, they had a chance to win this game if we are being honest, but, coaching killed those odds. Bad situational awareness by head coach Antonio Pierce and bad play-calling by offensive coordinator Luke Getsy is what lost this game. Point, blank, period.

The Raiders are not a great team and deserve to be 2-6, yes. But, they could have won this game when you factor in how badly the Kansas City Chiefs played themselves, and how good the Raiders' offense was compared to other games this season.

But, they blew it.

Safety Tre'Von Moehrig had an interception on Patrick Mahomes and returned it to the Chiefs three-yard line. The offense would take over from there. So, you have to think about the fact that the Raiders have to come away with a touchdown, right?

It's 17-13 in favor of the Chiefs with five minutes to go in the third quarter. The Raiders, on the three-yard line, run the ball three straight times, every time not gaining a single yard and actually losing yardage. They ran the same exact run play every run, a zone run up the middle, just flipped it or added a fake sweep to it.

And, that's unacceptable. They went for it on fourth down only for Gardner Minshew to hold the ball and get sacked.

"The ball is on the three-yard line, obviously we have to punch it in right? Last week, same situation, we threw it four straight times. We tried to but they knocked us back and won the line of scrimmage," Pierce said after the game.

That's not really a great explanation. In fact, that's a terrible explanation of why they were so predictable.

Okay, you can say the passing game wasn't working up to that point, or whatever you want to say, but the offensive line got no push on the first or second try. They got bullied. At least throw a pass in there, where Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers were dominating all day.

The Raiders could have won that game. Then again, they didn't need to. This team needs to lose as much as possible so they can go and get their quarterback of the future.

The Raiders will play the Cincinnati Bengals next, followed by the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Chiefs again, and then Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their schedule is about to get very tough, and it's only going to make their chances at getting a guy like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders even better.
