Now sitting with a 5-1 record, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish technically still control their own destiny. Win out and you will be a part of the college football playoffs. Their next big test is the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who come into this contest with a 5-2 overall record.

A fast and talented team, it’s technically a neutral site game for them, but there should be a heavy home feeling playing in Atlanta at Mercedes Benz Stadium. It’s win or die for the Irish, and Georgia Tech has an upset on their mind. It promises to be an entertaining matchup all around.

Unfortunately the game did lose a little bit of its luster when it was announced Georgia Tech starting quarterback Haynes King will be unavailable for this game. He’s dealing with an upper body injury that forced him to leave early last week against North Carolina. Zach Pyron will take his place, who is a talented player as well, but not the known commodity that King is as a dual threat.

The Notre Dame defense will be preparing for some unknown but what they do know, this Yellow Jacket offense is very fast. Running back Jamal Haynes and wide receiver Eric Singleton are dynamic weapons that defenses have to be ready for. Defensive coordinator Al Golden must have his unit ready to go.

For the Notre Dame offense, they will be facing a poor passing defense for the second straight week. Quarterback Riley Leonard must continue his trend upward and have a big day. If he does, the Irish have a chance to win this one decisively. Throw the football and wear down on this big front seven.
