An underappreciated former Tennessee Vols quarterback was in Neyland Stadium on Saturday night for UT's 24-17 win against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Jarrett Guarantano, a quarterback at Tennessee from 2016 to 2020, was back in Neyland on Saturday for the first time since he left the program after the 2020 season.

Guarantano, a former four-star recruit from New Jersey, played at Tennessee during a tumultuous time for the program. His redshirt freshman season was the same season that Butch Jones was fired as UT's head coach. Then he spent three seasons playing under Jeremy Pruitt, which meant playing for two different offensive coordinators and two different quarterbacks coach. It wasn't exactly a recipe for success for Guarantano.

But Guarantano suited up every week, played through injuries, took a beating at times, and never complained.

(With Tennessee in disarray after the 2020 season, Guarantano transferred to Washington State for his final season of eligibility.)

The Vols' record during Guarantano's time on Rocky Top wasn't always pretty, but there's no doubt that he gave his all for Tennessee.
