The saga is over.

After months of private and public negotiations, trade requests, trade refusals, fired agents, hired agents and speculation, Haason Reddick will finally return to Florham Park and be part of the New York Jets.

In what seemed like the hold out that would never end, the New York Jets have agreed to an adjusted contract to finally bring Reddick into the fold at 1 Jets Drive.

Jets have agreed to waive over $12 million in fines in return for Haason Reddick honoring his contract for the remainder of the season and reporting to the Jets. Which leads to the question, “what the hell was the point of all that, Haason?”.

Reddick refused to play under his current contract and the Jets refused to give him a long term deal. When the trade with the Philadelphia Eagles was made for Reddick back in March, Reddick was said to be good with the plan playing on a re-worked 2024 deal that would guarantee a large portion of his over $14 million contract. Once the Jets traded Jonathan Franklin-Myers, Reddick sensed he had the leverage and decided to back off from that agreement and begin his holdout. One that is finally over as Week 7 of the season is set to kick-off.

The Jets defense has been good this season, especially against the pass, but the pass rush has been mediocre at best and the Jets have been gashed at times in the run game.  Jermaine Johnson's injury made a bad situation worse and the Jets are hopeful that they are getting the Pro Bowl player they traded for in Reddick, and not the guy who held out for so long.

According to Schefter, Jets owner Woody Johnson was said to be “very involved in working this out” with Drew Rosenhaus, Reddick’s new representation after he was fired from CAA earlier this month. Rosenhaus made it clear early that while they would look for a trade, their intentions were to get a deal done with the New York Jets.

It is not surprising that Woody Johnson got more involved lately considering the state of the team and the fact that the Jets ultimately gave ground on the negotiation.

Johnson never had any intention of trading holdout Haason Reddick, despite inquiries from other teams. Reddick is the first player in a decade to hold out past week one of the regular season and then receive an adjusted contract. Woody Johnson pushed his GM aside to make sure that his public plea for Reddick to show up last week after the Jets fired Robert Saleh didn’t fall on deaf ears.

At this point, it in unknown when Reddick will be able to give the Jets significant snaps considering he has yet to even practice with the team.

But at 2-4 the Jets are turning the page on their season with Ulbrich taking over as coach, Davante Adams added to the offense and now, finally, Haason Reddick added to the defense.

This will turn the season around, right?
