Welcome to Week 6 of the Detroit Lions Mailbag. The bye week is over and we're about to go on a long run of football, football and more football. You'll hear nobody complain about that. Let's get to the questions.

Right before the season started I put out stat projections for all of the Lions offensive players and I went with 38 receptions for 378 yards and three touchdowns. I still think that's what you should expect to get out of him this year.

That'll get the job done too. With Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams taking up the bulk of the targets in the room and the suspicion that we're going to see more Allen Robinson soon, that should be a solid year for Patrick.

I think every team is playing it super safe with this right now. It's funny because the idea was to promote more kick returns and I
think it's only promoted more touchbacks. I'd love to see Kalif Raymond get a shot at a big return soon. In terms of being safe, I think you'd rather be safe than sorry. Just keep booting them into the end zone.

Wingo is a guy that it's still crazy the Lions were able to get where they got him. I remember multiple mock drafts having him in the third round.

The thing I like about him the most is that there's some options for versatility there. He can play on the interior, but then he can flip outside too. I think he has the speed and athleticism to be on the outside full time, but we'll see where that goes in the future. So far he's been sneaky good for the Lions.

I'm kind of an outlier on the Vikings right now. I know everyone wants to crown them, but we've seen this team have hot starts just like this one and then completely fall off a cliff as the season progresses. Their win over the Texans was impressive, but I saw some cracks begin to show against the Jets and the Packers.

They have a great defense, but they're super blitz heavy and Jared Goff and the Lions offensive has consistently very good against the blitz. I think the Lions matchup really well. We'll see in Week 7.

Speaking of the Vikings, They have an unbelievably beautiful stadium. The atmosphere there is pretty hype too. From a media standpoint, I think they have the best press box situation in the league. Really good food, it's open air so you're in the action and the staff is really nice. I think Chicago is the worst if you're curious.

I fully expect them to make a move or two at the deadline. The need for an edge rusher is pretty high right now. The Lions cannot afford to lose anyone else and they're not getting Marcus Davenport or John Cominsky back this year.

In terms of the "f" them picks days in Los Angeles, Holmes was there most of that time. He saw Les Snead be all about getting big name players and trying to win that Super Bowl. Lions fans may think they have Holmes figured out, I think he's going to flip on them relatively soon and start spending that money

I don't. This is a spot where the Lions are pretty set. They have Malcolm Rodriguez, Ben Niemann, Jalen Reeves Maybin and Trevor Nowaske that can come in and backup Alex Anzalone and Jack Campbell when needed. Plus they have Abraham Beauplan on the practice squad and they loved what that guy brought during the preseason.

There's really no spot on the defense that I feel more comfortable with than this linebacker room.

I think the Lions could get calls on a few guys. Here's three guys that teams may want to trade with the Lions for. This of course doesn't mean any of those trades will happen or that the Lions should move them.

  • Kayode Awosika: The entire league just watched this guy go out and have a pretty good game on Monday Night Football and there's teams that are going to need someone to start after injuries or they want to upgrade. Awosika is someone that could get called on. With the Lions looking to have Christian Mahogany start playing, there's always a possibility they listen to calls.
  • Craig Reynolds: Running backs are getting hurt every five minutes in this league. Here's a guy that has some time in the league and could break out a good game here and there. Teams might feel they could pry him away with Sione Vaki and Jermar Jefferson around.
  • Malcolm Rodriguez: Keep in mind that this is teams calling the Lions and asking, it doesn't mean they'd actually do it. The league might look at the Lions deep linebacker room and think maybe there's a chance they'd part with one.

You can't come out of this with anything worse than 2-2. I don't really like that a whole lot either. That makes the Lions 5-3 out of this run.

3-1 should be the bottom. You're facing a beat up Texans teams, a Titans team that looks like it could be picking top 5 next year and a Packers team that doesn't look as hot as everyone expected the Packers to be. Of course there's the big game against the Vikings. Ideally you don't lose any of these games, but that's pretty hard to do, even for the best teams.

When you have a center as good as Ragnow is, that's hard to replace. I'm sure they've kept their eyes out in recent drafts, but the right guy has to come along.

That guy might already be with the team. Undrafted rookie Kinglsely Eguakun could maybe be the guy that is the heir to Ragnow's throne some day. He looked good in camp and the preseason, he just needs time to get even better. With that said, I wouldn't expect Ragnow to go anywhere for a while.

I think it's coming around the corner. The Lions have shown us a lot in the past that they like to take their time implementing young guys into their offense. Vaki is getting that same treatment. My guess is by the end of this month, we will have seen some plays drawn up for him.
