For years, the Ohio State Buckeyes have been loaded with playmakers on both sides of the ball. But their trench play has sometimes caused fans angst, especially with losses to Oregon and Michigan, which showed a certain weakness against the run game.

If the Reese's Senior Bowl Midseason All-American Team has correctly identified that three Ohio State trench players are among the top seniors in the country, then this Buckeyes season might end with a national title trophy coming back to Columbus.

3 Buckeyes Make Midseason All-American Team

Defensive tackle Ty Hamilton, center Seth McLaughlin, and left tackle Josh Simmons each were named with honors. The Reese's Senior Bowl said these selections were made "after film review, live game exposures, and calls with coaches & NFL personnel."

Let's look at the case for each.

Ty Hamilton, DT

Hamilton is the most surprising of the bunch. Known as a pass-rusher early in his career before eating more blocks in 2023, Hamilton has found the perfect balance to his game this year. He's totaled five QB pressures, including two sacks and 10 run stops.

With an overall PFF grade of 82.2, Hamilton is a worthy selection. He's now considered a surefire 2025 NFL Draft pick and should earn Day 3 grades.

Josh Simmons, OT

The best 2025 NFL Draft prospect among Ohio State's nominees is Josh Simmons. The former transfer addition from San Deigo State began coming into his own throughout 2023 and has evolved into one of the finest pass-blockers in the nation. At 6-foot-5, 310 pounds, Simmons has sweet feet and can be a plus run blocker.

After allowing 15 pressures, eight penalties, and one sack last year, Simmons has played much cleaner this fall. He's yet to give up a sack, or QB hit, or penalty. We could see Simmons sneak into the first round.

Seth McLaughlin, C

So far, the addition of McLaughlin has been a big hit for the Buckeyes. Despite concerns after a sudden decline in 2023 with Alabama, McLaughlin has returned to his regularly-solid level of play with the Buckeyes. There aren't many centers as efficient in the passing game as McLaughlin, and he's a tremendous run blocker.

With only two pressures allowed and one penalty committed, McLaughlin is primed to be at least a high-end NFL backup or average starter. We should see him drafted on Day 3.
