Hurricane Helene seriously impacted much of the southeast last week, including Tennessee Titans' LB Ernest Jones' hometown of Waycross, Georgia. But Jones had the time and the means to help out over his bye week, and that's exactly what he did.

The NFL Players Association recognized Jones this week as the NFLPA Community MVP for giving out over 400 free meals to people trying to rebuild in the wake of the storm.

The decision was a no-brainer for Jones:

"For me, I love my hometown, so everything kind of worked out perfectly. Obviously, I wanted to go back for better circumstances, but just came to plan where I was like, hey, I got a bye week, I don't get to really go back for any other events, so let's try to give some free food away, hit up a couple food trucks in the area, they were willing to help us out and do it. It was easy, just called a few people and went on down there."

To be recognized by the NFL Players Association with an award for his charitable actions was a nice bonus, but was far from the point for Ernest:

No, it's definitely cool, man. It's definitely cool to be recognized for the work that we do in our communities back home, so I'm just thankful, blessed to be in the position, I'm blessed, and just thankful God blessed me to be the one to be able to give back. With or without the reward, I'll do it any time."

Past Titans winners of the NFLPA Community MVP award include Kevin Byard and Delanie Walker. That's some pretty good company for one of the newest Titans players, who is making waves on and now off of the field as well.
