It's hard to believe given the status of the team at this time a week ago, but it feels like the Alabama Crimson Tide have hit rock bottom.

An embarrassing loss against Vanderbilt that was only made worse by the actions of captain Malachi Moore, many believed stern action was required of Kalen DeBoer when it came to his discipline of Moore.

Well, following his Monday press conference, it's clear that DeBoer has other plans.

Malachi Moore Won't Be Suspended

“No, we have handled it," said DeBoer when asked if Malachi Moore would be suspended. "And I’m just gonna say this about Malachi – what he did, he has gone above and beyond in owning, taking ownership in it. And this is pretty much immediately after the game to this morning, things that are all prompted by him but also part of just our conversations…

"…I just want people to understand also that he’s had my and our back since Day 1, and there comes a point, too, where sometimes, as things play out, you’ve gotta have your guy’s back, as well, and understand that we all make mistakes and we all just gotta own up to it. And we’re doing that, and we will continue to move on.”

For Moore, it's a blackeye on what has been an otherwise stellar career in the Crimson & White. And in fairness to him, he took accountability for his actions both in front of the team and for the world to see:

Regardless, the actions are unacceptable even in the heat of the moment. What Moore did is unbecoming of every player that has worn a crimson helmet and the right answer was to set a precedent for the new era of Alabama football by suopending Moore, something you can all but guarantee would have happened under Nick Saban.

So while it's still early, DeBoer is learning that Tide fans have high expectations. Not only is a loss against a team like Vanderbilt unacceptable, but running a loose ship might be even worse.

Lucikly for he and the rest of the Tide, they can get back on track against South Carolina on Saturday ahead of a big matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers in a little less than two weeks.
